Simmonds offer you 10% discount on all uniform purchases at our selling event at Barton Court on Tuesday 13th June and Wednesday 21st June from 3:15pm – 7:30pm.

 

The event will be located in the school hall for your convenience. 10% off all uniform purchased at this event for both new and existing students.

 

Please shop at these selling events to ensure personalised embroidery on PE Kit is ready for back to school. Embroidery is charged at £4 per item.

SHOPPING

 

Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) offer families the choice of purchasing the uniform items required for school from S. Simmonds & Son either online or via telephone sales to Simmonds Customer Service on 01892 837202.  Uniform can be tried on at the selling events, but if you are unsure as to what size to buy we are happy to give guidance over the phone or in person.  BCGS unform is not stocked in Tunbridge Wells, however some uniform items are available to try on at the school for clarification of sizing required.  Please enquire via the general office.

We hope that you are happy with your purchase, but should you need to return any goods please obtain a proof of posting. Please note, unless faulty or for reasons previously discussed with Simmonds Customer Service, returns are not paid for by Simmonds and you will be returning goods at your own cost.

The online shopping prices are detailed on the product pages, and may vary according to garment size. Payment online is secure and we operate a credit / debit card payment system through World Pay.  Postage and packing is free on all orders despatched by Simmonds. Orders are despatched as promptly as possible however please allow up to 5 working days. Please note that in some schools we offer a uniform shop facility, which means that our stock is kept in numerous locations. Therefore if you place an order in the school holiday period, or during a period that the shop is closed, you may encounter a further delay as occasionally we are unable to access stock in a school shop until that school re-opens.

The aim of the school uniform & dress code is to:

(a)             promote a shared identity and foster pride in the School

(b)             ensure dress appropriate for the working day

(c)             promote equality and avoid issues of comparison & peer pressure

 

Students are expected to be smart. School uniform is to be worn correctly at all times during the school day including to and from School as well as for visits and school events unless otherwise noted. Non-school uniform days students clothing should be smart casual and suitable for the business of the day, normal regulations regarding jewellery, hair and make-up apply on these days.

Blazer*

School blue blazer with school badge

 

Blouse*

School white formal, open neck, rever shirt with school badge.

Must be tucked in

Jumper*

(Optional)

School blue V-necked jumper with trimmed neckband and school badge

Optional. This is the only jumper permitted

Tartan Skirt*

 

School tartan skirt available from the uniform supplier

Tartan skirt, no more than 6cm above or below the knee. Compulsory for Y7 students and optional for Y8 – 11.

Black Skirt

School black skirt. We recommend that this is obtained from the uniform suppliers to ensure the correct design.

Plain black pleated, no more than 6cm above or below the knee. No extra pockets, buttons, belts or zips.

Trousers

School black trouser. We recommend that these are obtained from the uniform suppliers to ensure the correct design.

Plain black full length tailored, straight legged, trouser. No fashion trousers, no flare or narrowing, no bootleg, no extra pockets, buttons, belts or zips.

Socks

Dark socks with trousers, black or white with skirt

 

Tights

Plain black or natural

No patterned tights

Shoes

Black leather flat or low heeled shoes* not ankle boots

No trainers, no trainer shoes. No “Ugg” boots

* Open-toed or backless sandals are not allowed at any time for health and safety reasons.

Coat

Dark weatherproof outer coat should be smart and worn over the blazer. (Reflective arm bands aid visibility in the winter.)

Rainproof jacket available from the PE list is suitable. Coats must not display any slogans or offensive logos

Bags

The recommended school bag is a rucksack

Bags must have an over the shoulder strap. No fashion bags, no handbags, no excessive adornments (non-functional buckles, straps, plaid handles, chains, studs, scarves etc). No plastic bags

Science*

White laboratory coat.

Safety spectacles are provided when necessary

Safety spectacles are provided where necessary and students may buy their own pair if they wish (available from Science Dept.  at approx. £3)

Design Technology*

Blue apron appropriate for workshop & all practical work.

 

 

 

White laboratory coat and blue DT apron are compulsory for Years 7 – 11.
