Simmonds offer two options for purchasing school uniform at your convenience; these include online shopping and shopping at Tunbridge Wells.
NEW ENTRANTS TO WEALD OF KENT GRAMMAR SCHOOL
For reasons of sizing, advice on quantities and care labels, and in order to avoid the need for returns, we recommend that uniform for new entrants is purchased from Simmonds in Tunbridge Wells as opposed to online.
Shopping online is suitable for repeat or replacement purchases.
Simmonds is located at 64 Calverley Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN1 2UG and is open daily from Monday to Saturday, 9.00am-5.30pm.
It is not necessary for you to make an appointment for your child regarding the purchase of uniform.

SHOPPING ONLINE
Shopping online is available to customers 24hours/day, 365 days/year.
The prices are the same as shop prices and delivery is to home.
Payment online is secure and Simmonds operate a credit / debit card payment system through World Pay. Delivery charges apply but are based on product size and weight in accordance with postage costs.
Delivery is within 5 working days unless otherwise specified.

Calls and emails received out of hours will be answered when normal business resumes weekdays between 9am to 5pm.

ALL
Plain white/navy knee/ankle socks or plain black/navy tights.
Skin coloured tights, white/navy/black trainer socks or skin coloured sockettes may be worn in the summer.
Plain black or navy coats should be worn. It is not acceptable to wear; short jackets; denim jackets; leather jackets or an extra jumper instead of a coat.
Optional summer dress, skirts are sold in 2 lengths 18” and 20”. The measurement is taken from below the base of the waistband. Skirts should be worn “just on the knee or just above”. If in doubt- when seated with legs crossed a skirt should not be higher than a tightly closed hand’s width from the knee”
Worn in the summer of Year 7 onwards throughout the summer term and first half of autumn term.
FOOTWEAR
Shoes should be plain black with no contrasting coloured stitching or laces. The heels should be black and of a suitable height. They should not have a platform, sling backs, stiletto or kitten heel. Ballet pumps and boots are not acceptable. Shoes should be well maintained, clean and polished.
HAIR
Should be neat, clean, tidy, tied back where necessary. Only plain hair bands in navy/burgundy or black may be worn. Other hair ornaments are not allowed neither is coloured braiding or beading. No unnatural hair colours are permitted.
JEWELLERY
A watch if worn should be named. Jewellery may be permitted with respect to certain religious beliefs or medical conditions. Parents should request permission in writing from Head of Student Services. Body Piercing is not acceptable. For students with pierced ears, only one stud should be worn in each ear. Make up, false nails and nail varnish should not be worn.
Physical Education
- Navy polo shirt with logo
- Plain Navy tracksuit bottoms

- Hockey socks (navy)
- Jazz pants (black)
- Leotard (in any one colour with shoulder straps at least 2” wide and high back)
- Shin pads
- Robust bag for PE kit
- Tennis racket – optional in summer
- White trainers (non marking soles)
If in Hockey or Netball team:Additional equipment- A bag to carry equipment to and from school - should be waterproof and strong with a secure fastening.
- A padlock to secure locker. These can be purchased from Main School Reception and cost £2 each.
- Any apron for Food Technology.
School uniform must be adhered to when travelling to and from school.
If in exceptional circumstances your daughter has to attend school wearing a non-standard article of clothing, she should bring a note of explanation.
WEALD OF KENT GRAMMAR SCHOOL IS PROUD TO HAVE A FIRMLY UPHELD UNIFORM POLICYNAMING ALL CLOTHING & PERSONAL ITEMS
All items of school clothing and footwear and personal property should be clearly and permanently marked with the owners name. Name tapes are available from Simmonds, either as sew in or iron on.
